For the patient to qualify for the Gastric Sleeve procedure, the patient should undergo some procedures such asEsophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), Ultrasound of the Upper Abdomen, Echocardiography, Chest x-ray, Electrocardiogram, Sleep test, and series of routine blood test to make sure that the patient is safe to undergo a Gastric sleeve procedure.  These procedures can be done in the country of origin of the patient ahead. The patient can send the results to us by email for pre-operative review and qualification.

If after doing the initial procedures, a treatment is required then the patient should comply before undergoing gastric sleeve.

For Gastric Sleeve, the estimated cost for the procedure is 450,000 THB. This includes ICU admission for 1 night after the surgery for monitoring and 3 nights hospital stay in the superior private room in our International ward.

The cost includes:

The total duration of the procedure will be approximately 1-2 hours. The surgery will be performed under general anaesthesia and 2 bariatric surgeons will perform the surgery. A patient will be required to stay in Bangkok for at least 2-4 weeks for follow-up consultations.

The Cardiologist will also evaluate the risk of deep vein thrombosis, which could occur in Gastric Sleeve surgery. There are two preventive measures for deep vein thrombosis, which are mechanical prevention, using intermittent pneumatic compression device, and pharmaceutical prevention, using anti-coagulant. The decision upon which preventive measure to be used will be discussed among the medical team based on the patient’s risk factors and results of initial assessment. All cases that undergo Gastric Sleeve Surgery will need at least 1 preventive measure for deep vein thrombosis. Prevention of deep vein thrombosis might be started prior to the surgery or after depending on the initial assessment. It’s important to know that the preventive measure could not lower the risk to zero.
